Partial nephrectomy

Partial nephrectomy is a surgery where only the part of the kidney with cancer is removed, leaving the healthy part of the kidney intact. This procedure helps preserve kidney function.

Partial nephrectomy is a common surgery for kidney cancer that hasn’t spread. Most people stay cancer-free for years after the surgery. However, the chance of the cancer coming back depends on the type of tumour and the results of the laboratory examination (pathology). Keeping as much healthy kidney as possible helps your kidneys work well and supports your overall health.
